Herbal tea, also known as tisane, is made from an infusion of herbs or spices in hot water. Unlike teas from the camellia sinesis plant, called true teas, herbal teas are naturally caffeine free. That, combined with their multitude of other benefits makes tisane a healthy beverage. We supply an assortment of herbal teas in boxes of 25 tea bags each. You can enjoy the soothing effects of Chamomile or Sage, savor a cup of Thyme or Anise to treat coughs, control blood pressure with Hibiscus or get refreshed with Mint. Tisanes are made of herbs, fruits, seeds or roots that are steeped in hot water. They have varying merits that have been put into use for many centuries. Drinking two or more cups a day provides a whole host of health benefits to the drinker.

Sage

Sage is one of the most popular tisane that hails from Southern Europe. It has been applied in traditional medicine for centuries as a stimulant, expectorant and for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Sage tea is also a great appetite enhancer.

Its antioxidant properties can help alleviate signs of early aging by increasing skin elasticity. Sage helps reduce glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It also has a mood lifting effect that can help deal with depression.

It is often used to treat an array of ailments such as headaches, sore throats and indigestion. Preparing Tisane

Like true teas, herbal teas can be served both hot and cold. To prepare the perfect cup of herbal tea you need to pick out the right herb depending on what you want from it. Chamomile is relaxing and thyme is uplifting, make sure you have the right herb. Start with boiling some water. It doesn’t matter what the water is boiled in, but kettles are usually faster. Place your tea bag in the cup and pour the hot water into it. Steeping herbal tea is very important, you don’t want the steam to escape and take all the helping essential oils with it, so cover the cup with something. Let it steep for about 10 minutes. Then just squeeze out any excess water in the tea bag with a spoon, add your sweetener of choice, honey is always a great option, and your tea is all ready.
